Luke Tyrrell is an award-winning classical guitarist from Reading, England. Combining knowledge from all genres and varieties of guitar playing, and a special interest in underappreciated and underperformed works, Luke strives to offer audiences diverse and unique recitals. Luke has performed at many prestigious venues and events around the United Kingdom, including at Charter house, The Royal Greenwich Guitar Festival, and the Old Royal Navel Chapel. Above all, in 2021, Luke was honoured to win the Allison Stephens prize for plucked strings. Currently living in London, and studying under the tutorage of Graham Devine towards a Masters degree, he recently embarked on a project to record Isaias Savio’s ‘Cenas Brasilieras’, something which has not been done in its entirety in over 50 years. Helping shine light on new works and those which are en-route to being forgotten is crucial to Luke’s goals as a musician and is something he finds very rewarding. 2023 promises to be Luke’s biggest year yet, with him playing a recital tour around his home borough of Berkshire, a headline performance at Helly’s International Guitar Festival and much more.
