The
Apollo Consort Contemporary Music Society was formed in September 2019, directed by Harry Weir, primarily to actively seek new compositions by emerging composers and to present them in an exciting and accessible way.
We are an up to sinfonietta sized contemporary music ensemble, currently under the direction of Kornélia Nemcová.
Our instrumentation varies from project to project, which forces commissioned composers to write new music outside of the box and helps us build up our own repertoire. Most recently, we recorded nine new works by current and alumni Trinity Laban composers in the studios of University of Surrey.
For this spring concert, we are proud to be looking into a great and challenging Double Bass Concerto by Bulgarian composer Emil Tabakov (solo Alexander Ferkey), alongside new works by Trinity Laban composers.
Apollo Consort Contemporary Music Society is a student society at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance under the generous sponsorship of Trinity Laban Student Union. More info
