Sonata for double bass
A native of the state of Wisconsin,
Alex Ferkey has given performances throughout the United States and the United Kingdom. While freelancing in the United States, he served as the Assistant Principal bass of the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, and performed with numerous orchestras within the Midwest, including the Sioux City, Ottumwa, Quincy, and Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestras. Ferkey is also an active chamber musician and has given recitals and masterclasses across the USA and UK. Ferkey received a BMus from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a MA from the University of Iowa. He is currently pursuing an MMus at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where he studies with Leon Bosch. Mr. Ferkey is generously supported in his studies through the Paul Monk, Loveday and Trinity College London Scholarships.
