Mandy Liu is a Hong Kong born coloratura soprano who is currently studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance under the tutelage of Teresa Cahill as a Kathleen Roberts Scholar in Professional Diploma, and at the same time the choral scholar of The Old Royal Naval College Chapel Choir. She graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Arts degree where Music was her major and obtained both her Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Master of Research in Cultural Geography from Royal Holloway University of London with Distinction. During her time at Royal Holloway, she was one of the soprano choral scholars of the Choir of Royal Holloway and won second prize in the Royal Holloway Concerto Competition. Mandy’s recent roles include Constanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail and Gilda in Rigoletto (Trinity Laban Opera).
Olivia Thomas is a soprano, hailing from Grimsby, Lincolnshire. After completing her BMus (Hons) degree in music at Newcastle University, with a year abroad at the Conservatoire in Perugia, Italy, Olivia gained a place on the postgraduate vocal course at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and the offer to be a volunteer in the Old Royal Naval College Chapel Choir. At Trinity Laban, she studies voice under the tutelage of Patricia Rozario and coach Helen Yorke. Recent roles in staged opera scenes have included Blondchen from Mozart’s
Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Martha in Musgrave’s
A Christmas Carol and Nannetta from Verdi’s
Falstaff, at Blackheath Halls.
Born and grew up in China,
Miaoyan Li has been playing the piano since the age of four, and studied with Jingqi Li in Steinway partnered piano studios in Shanghai up until her move to the UK. After graduation from Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University with a Bachelor Degree in Biology, she decided to undertake a professional music education and seek out professional guidance and opportunities. Miaoyan had put her piano education on hold while receiving scientific academic training and found that the creativity and dedication she demonstrated in science assisted her transition into the music world. After completing her Graduate Diploma at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2022, she progressed to the Professional Diploma course under the tutelage of Deniz Gelenbe. Seeking opportunities to manifest her potential with innovative thoughts, Miaoyan is now an active pianist and accompanist with great experience working with vocalists.
