‘A meticulous, sweeping and vivid history of black British music’ (Financial Times), Kevin Le Gendre’s book, Don’t Stop the Carnival, tells the story of Black music in Britain from Tudor times to the mid-1960s.

As part of Trinity Laban's programming focus 'Kaleidoscope: Celebrating Black British Music', Kevin Le Gendre reads from his book Don’t Stop The Carnival, accompanied by acclaimed saxophonist and Trinity Laban alum, Camilla George. The performance centres on key passages from the book with Camilla George playing and improvising on songs discussed in the text, taking the audience on an inspiring cultural journey.
