This student harp trio was created in September 2020 with Stella Mandeva (violin) from Bulgaria, Andrew Walters (cello) from England and Marie-Line Arragon (harp) from France.
Stella, Marie-Line and Andrew are in their third year of their bachelors’ degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. Stella studies with Clare Thompson, Marie-Line Arragon with Gabriella Dall'Olio, and Andrew Walters with Joely Koos.
Stella and Marie-Line are two Erasmus students who met thanks to this exchange program. They conceived the idea of forming a trio and playing the Ibert and the Dussek harp trio.
Because of the pandemic, they couldn't rehearse during the autumn term, but began playing again together when it was possible, with great joy. This will be their first concert together and the first performance by Stella and Marie-Line in England!
In today's program, you will hear us performing French music from the early 20th century by Jacques Ibert (first and second movement of the Trio) and music from the late 18th century by Czech composer Jan Ladislav Dussek (first movement of his Harp Trio Sonata).
