Tomás Matos began his piano studies at 6 years old, being taught by his father. At 10, he entered the Conservatoire of Music Calouste Gulbenkian - Aveiro(CMACG). In 2018 he finished his Degree in Piano for Chamber Music and Accompaniment at the National Higher Academy of Orchestra, in the class of the teacher Artur Pizarro. Currently Tomas is a holder of the Jimmie Cross Fund Scholarship and attends the Master's degree in Piano Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, in the class of Prof. Yekaterina Lebedeva.
Tomás is an award winning international pianist with a number of prizes from international and national competitions, to name a few: International Music Competition Cidade do Fundão - 1st prize; XIII Ria de Vigo Piano Competition - Honorary Prize; 14th International Competition St. Cecilia - 1st prize; Alexander Scriabin International Competition - 1st prize; National Piano Competition - 1st prize, performing Chopin's First Piano Concerto with the Centro Orchestra. Tomas has recorded a promotional CD of the XIII Ria de Vigo Piano Competition.
Some performing hightlights include a Promenade concert at the Teatro Aveirense, curated by prominent Portugues composer António Pinho Vargas, playing Gerschwin's Rhapsody in Blue for the Alcochete's Band Impartial Society and ARMAB, and recitals at the Museum of Santa Joana, Vila Praia de Âncora, Teatro do Campo Alegre and São João da Madeira, Leighton House Museum for Aspect Foundation and St James Piccadilly.
Tomas has also participated in Masterclasses with Fausto Neves, Jimmi Lee, Olga Pratts, Jaime Mota, Constantin Sandu, Álvaro Teixeira Lopes, Sergei Covalenco, Carles Lama, Guigla Katsarava, Vladimir Viardo, Dmitri Bashkirov, Arie Vardi.
As a chamber musician, Tomas is actively collaborating with with trumpeter Jorge Almeida.
