Nikolai Kapustin Sonatina, Op.100

Chung-Kwan Salome Siu is a Hong Kong mezzo-soprano based in London. Graduated with distinction this year from Master of Music in Performance in Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, she is a proud Eva Malpass Scholar under the guidance of Linda Hirst, Mary Wiegold and Andrew-Matthews Owen. At age 16, she won first prize at Hong Kong School Music Festival. This year, she reaches the finalist of Soloists’ Competition and The Elizabeth Schumann Lieder Duo Competition and is awarded the Director’s Prize for Excellence in voice 2023 by Trinity Laban. She is enthusiastic in collaborate with pianist and being selected as SongEasel Young Artist with her duo pianist partner Lucas Saraiva Cunha.

Lucas Cunha is a 20 year old pianist based in London. He studied at the Royal College of Music Junior Department for three years under the tutelage of Yekaterina Lebedeva, and was regarded as one of the “department's best pianists”. He is currently studying piano at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where he is a recipient of the Alfred and Therese Kitchin Scholarship, and is continuing lessons with Prof. Lebedeva.

Lucas enjoys playing a wide variety of repertoire - his interpretations of Romantic and 20th Century repertoire especially have generated various successes, such as the Enfield U18 Piano competition, North London Music Festival competitions, winning a recital prize at the Musical Odyssey Masterclasses in Greece, and various concert opportunities across London, Kent, and internationally in Nafplio, Greece, and Shunde, China, for a gala concert as part of celebrations for the Chinese Republic’s 70th Anniversary. These concerts have range from solo recitals and chamber ensembles, to concerto performances; having played Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F with Haringey Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra (HYMSO) in London (which he has also played Orchestral Piano with at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall), and Lydian Orchestra in Kent.

Having a passion for the vocal repertoire, Lucas collaborates with various singers, performing in concerts and festivals together. Highlights include being a finalist of the Elizabeth Schumann Lieder Competition in 2023, performing in Trinity Laban’s Don’t Stop the Carnival festival which celebrates the music of Black British Composers and their Different Worlds Festival, performing in a recital focusing on the songs of Contemporary Female Composers, a masterclass with Lied Specialist Keval Shah as part of the SongEasel Young Artists Programme with Mezzo Soprano ChungKwan Salome Siu, who he collaborates regularly with. He also enjoys exploring music for less common vocal/instrumental ensembles, as well as commissioning new music from young composers in London for these ensembles.
